Surveys carried out in Ghana in 2008 showed a national clinical prevalence of yaws lesions at 0.68%; however, prevalence in some rural communities was as high as 20%. 2 The general trend of case notification in Ghana showed a substantial decline in the number of cases over time (from 35,200 in 2009 to 9,300 in 2012; Figure 2).
