The remote sensing technique lidar is thus particularly suited to derive vegetation properties such as tree elevation, the vertical profile of foliage and terrain height (Harding et al. 2001).
This research project was designed to determine the degree of missing and dead stems that result from apical dieback for over-wintering stems on two branches per direction, eight directions per tree, four trees per elevation, and four elevations per mountain for each of four mountains in the Adirondack Mountains of New York.
The average critical value for the state of forcing (FcritBB) was estimated using budburst survey from 2007 to 2011 at two elevations (1117 and 1340 m) for 20 trees per elevation (Fig. 1).
