Ac/Ds has a strong bias to transpose to locations proximal to their initial location (Greenblatt 1984; Dooner and Belachew 1989), which makes this system particularly well suited to generating allelic series and saturating genes in a defined region (Kolkman et al. 2005).
QuEST did not dominate in comparisons, however, perhaps because it transposes tag locations, rather than estimating two separate tag densities, one for each strand.
A shortcoming of the SB system used by Collier and coworkers [ 19] is its tendency to transpose to locations close to the excision site.
