Various endothelial, glial and neuronal glucose transporters with different transport characteristics guarantee sufficient glucose transport across the blood brain barrier (GLUT1) as well as glial (GLUT1, 5) and neuronal (GLUT3, 4, 6, 8) glucose uptake [ 13, 44].
Interestingly, two of these sugars, lactose and melibiose, are anomers of glucose and galactose, which are hydrolyzed and transported with different mechanisms in fungi, with both requiring the Leloir Pathway to introduce galactose into glycolysis and sometimes some additional futile cycles [ 28].
It is still far from what is internationally called strategic or comprehensive planning, or from a design of the national transport system with different modes of transport well integrated.
Integration instead involves the relationship of the transport system with different built environments and with other transport modes, an aspect which may facilitate or not its use and can be evaluated according to the number of existing interchanges as well as the design of the stations.
At this concentration, tryptophan is being transported through the LAT1 isoform of system L (approximately 80%) and through a high affinity system, which could be a hitherto undefined transporter or a variant of a known transport system with different functional properties due to an altered structure or conformation of the transporter protein.
