In one area, a dramatic wasteland of trashed Vex transport gates and twisted machinery, there's a swarm of goblins and minotaurs, complete with floating mines that explode on touch and leave a stasis field that slows down anyone who runs through it.
Under salt stress, several transporters of toxic metal ions, lipids, water, and sugar molecules were differentially expressed, such as ABC transporters, H+-ATPase, sucrose transport, inositol transporter, gated channel, sulfate transporter, NHX1, H+ antiporter, chloride channel, and potassium channel proteins.
To avoid transport costs, gate fees and on-site treatment, unthickened WTRs are disposed to sewers whenever possible, with 25% of UK and 9% of US WTRs disposed this way.
We have also identified distinguishing features in loops E and D in the newly identified subfamilies indicating their possible role in channel transport and gating.
Altogether, the mechanism of ion transport and gating can be summarized as illustrated in Figure 8: when TmCorA is open, partially hydrated Co2+ passes through a polar channel co-ordinated by hydroxy groups of threonine and asparagine; threonine is also instrumental to select for Co2+.
Whether this represents the opening of a possible transport substrate "exit gate" in analogy to the entrance gate observed in the opened inward conformations will have to be confirmed in future studies.
Specifically, the inactivation of AQP9 subunit gates during iAsIII influx is described by Equation 1b, which expresses the increased probability of these gates closing as more transport across the gates occurs.

Three-dimensional modeling of B. fragilis Omp121 (based on 1D and 3D sequence profiles, coupled with secondary structure and solvation potential information) indicated that the closest homologues in terms in fold conservation were the E. coli 16-stranded porins (e.g. OsmA) and 22-stranded ligand gated transport proteins (e.g. FepA).
