Each transformed line, derived from a single transformation event, has been multiplied in vitro for over two years, and several different harvests have been tested spectrophotometrically and via HPLC, finding only minor variations in carotenoid content (Table 3).
Furthermore, as every transgenic root originates from a single cell [ 34, 35] and represents an independent transformation event, a great numbers of transformants can be obtained and analyzed in a relatively short period of time [ 9].
