A frequently made claim in the innovation literature is that important inventions involve the transfer of new knowledge from one technological domain to another.
For some, translational research is a term to express the integration of basic sciences and clinical research ("from bench to bedside"); for others, it means to accelerate the transfer of new knowledge to practice.
