WHAT THEY WANT In transfer candidates, colleges look for qualities that can enrich classes composed largely of students straight from high school, like experience, maturity and diversity.
Colleges want happy transfer candidates.
Furthermore, we studied transfer candidates that seem to be under positive selection, as this would indicate an adaptation to the new environment and therefore LGT.
Our data is for natural reasons limited; other oceanic and soil samples may contain other transfer candidates, and the total transfer to the Atlantic Ocean from environments similar to Minnesota farm soil must be considerably larger.
To screen the OtV5 genome for potential horizontal gene transfer candidates, we systematically screened OtV5 ORFs (>40 aa) for homology with the O. tauri genome using tblastn and retrieved 17 ORFs ORFs with aa identity greater than 45% over more than 50 aa.

Based upon the initial analysis of the protein coding genes of T. scotoductus SA-01 using Karlin's codon usage method [ 24], 171 (6.8%) ORFs showed codon usage differences above the threshold values and were identified as horizontally transferred candidate genes (Additional file 2, Table S2).
In the second round, 417 votes are transferred to candidate B and 82 votes are transferred to candidate C. Thus, candidate B wins the election with 917 votes (candidate C receives a total of 691 votes).
