The central part of the grain contains broad areas with relatively consistent orientation separated by a small number of discrete linear zones that transect the short axis of the grain and which accommodate 1 5° misorientations (Fig. 2c,d).
We laid down a 4 m permanent transect through the longest axis containing plants within the patch.
Individual organisms were counted within 30×1 m belt transects deployed along the axis of the 8 cardinal compass points (N, NW, NE, E, W, SE, SW, S) surrounding each buoy.
Contrary to our study, a standard macroscopic technique was used in all the other studies, i.e. each lymph node was examined on one 2 3 mm thick slice transected in the major axis.
This transect likely captures the major axis of gene flow across the hybrid zone [ 25], with minor caveats covered in the Discussion.
Because the path of the contact front is assumed to be linear in the PAVA method, the best-fit axis of the transect orientation through sampled individuals was estimated using a one-dimensional cline fitting with a straight centerline.
We report field observations of an Upper Cretaceous submarine channel levee complex within the Rosario Formation, Baja California, Mexico, which provide high-resolution data of lithofacies and ichnofacies distribution, and levee depositional thickness decay along transects perpendicular to the channel axis.
The heat flow was highly variable at a distance from the trench axis along the Kii Transect (Fig. 8c).
