High transaction costs hamper efforts to consolidate farmland and raise efficiencies, they say, leaving farms fragmented.
Michael Offer, a spokesman for the German finance ministry, said earlier this week that Mr. Schäuble was ready to introduce a German or European Union-wide financial activity tax or financial transaction tax if efforts to reach a coordinated approach at the G-20 meeting failed.
The traders who rigged the London interbank offered rate "understood that to the extent they increased their profits or decreased their losses in certain transactions from their efforts to manipulate rates, their counterparties would suffer corresponding adverse financial consequences with respect to those particular transactions," the Justice Department said.
In court, she admitted to structuring the transaction in an effort to hide it from the Internal Revenue Service.
"The main problem with the currency as it is at the moment is the transaction cost, [the effort involved] for the consumers, but more for the businesses because they can't put it in the bank," he says.
An example of a positive non-monetary effect is that price promotion can help customers simplify the decision process and reduce the transaction time or effort.
During its first year, the IEDC closed more transactions than similar efforts had during the previous two years combined.
"With this transaction, we continue our efforts to strengthen our focus on Siemens' core areas of energy management, industry and infrastructure," Joe Kaeser, the chief financial officer of Siemens, said in a statement.
If it's done well, key stakeholders are more likely to support the transaction and lend their efforts to its success.
Look for WebMD to dominate the information market, while ceding its transaction and physician services efforts to the big boys: McKesson and Amicore, a new company formed by Pfizer, IBM and the world's favorite 800-pound gorilla, Microsoft.
