At this stage of the 2010 count, Labor was at close to 51% TPP, which would fall to 50.12% by the end of the count.
So are good old-fashioned protectionist provisions such as one of the rules of origin in the apparel trade designed to ensure that, to avoid punitive American tariffs, low-cost garment-makers have to buy American yarn rather than non-TPP Chinese stuff.For a poor country such as Vietnam, or a tiny one such as Brunei, TPP negotiations place a huge strain on government capacity.
"Similar provisions in the TPP that will prevent whistleblowers and journalists from accessing or 'disclosing' trade secrets through a computer system," Sutton says.
TPP has provisions that make it a crime to break these locks, and to do things that aren't even copyright infringement.
Congress won't have access to the TPP before it is signed, and the terms won't be publicly disclosed – ironic since the negotiations include 600 corporate advisers, including representatives of Halliburton and Caterpillar.

"This agreement would reduce duties on footwear and apparel among the TPP countries, including Nike products manufactured in Vietnam for sale in the US".
Congress must first pass the TPA so that the administration can complete negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, TPP, which is a global trade agreement involving 12 countries.
But each would be subject to a 60-vote threshold, and there is no guarantee that they will be added to the final TPP legislation.
Hundreds of advocacy groups working on everything from digital rights to environmental issues to access to HIV medication have loudly condemned the TPP and the Fast Track bills that Congress is currently considering to speed it into law.
