The sandy-debris-flow sandstones have a total detritus content of 68%75.6%%, which is 10%20%% higher than that of the turbidite sandstone (Table 1).
For example, HDF88 had higher live C stocks, in particular, live stem C, understory stem C, and total stem C. In addition, HDF88 had larger detritus C stocks including stumps C, large woody debris C, and total detritus C. The stand variability at HDF88 was also greater than at HDF90 indicated by the large standard deviations compared to the means.

Linear regressions between total woody detritus stocks and TMAX and PRECIP indicated tremendous data scatter along with very weak R-square's (< 0.1) (RMSE TMAX model = 7.386; RMSE PRECIP model = 7.529) (Figs. 2, 3).
In comparison, total woody detritus stocks had a barely positive relationship with increasing PRECIP.
Total woody detritus stocks had a negative relationship with increasing TMAX.
Additionally, a linear regression was conducted between the dependent variable of total woody detritus stocks and the independent climatic variables of TMAX and PRECIP.
Further tracers are dissolved nutrients (nitrate DIN, silicate DSi, and iron DFe), DIC and total alkalinity (ALK), detritus with pools of nitrogen, carbon, silicate, iron, and calcium carbonate, one type of zooplankton with carbon and nitrogen reservoirs, and dissolved organic nitrogen and carbon.
However, a total amount of such detritus was very limited at the off Nomamisaki site (data not shown).
For the ecological attributes of the invertebrate community and variables determined for the E. azurea leaf detritus, only the total nitrogen in detritus showed no significant changes over time (Kruskal Wallis: H = 10.974; p = 0.089).
However, BDE-209 has been reported to account for > 50% of total BDE burden in the detritus feeding ice-amphipod Gamarus wilkitzkii at Spitsbergen (Sørmo et al. 2006).
Specifically, we used an empirical formula based on total absorption and particle backscattering coefficients to estimate and then remove detritus absorption coefficient (ad), and developed a scheme to use absorption coefficients at three wavelengths (412, 443, and 490 nm) for the separation of ag and aph (absorption coefficient of phytoplankton).
