Marling's chapter topics read like a classic "What to Do for Christmas" list -- the tree, Santa, wrapping paper, shopping, cards and gifts, cookies and decorating.
But many sections of the work – on globalisation, migration and technology, to name a few pertinent topics – read differently in the light of decisions she has made since reading it, such as the treatment of Greece at the height of the eurozone crisis.

If bioethics is thought to be similarly unified, then a Danish bioethicist should generally be interested in the same topics, read the same books, attend the same conferences, cite the same authors, look at the same websites, and work in the same way as an American or Canadian bioethicist.
Furthermore, the hot topic "reading" emerges and fades out quickly at different period.
Numerous books and websites offer advice and instructions, but make sure the author is well-versed in the topic (reading their biography may help).
