Ann Curry just can't seem to do anything these days without being the topic of a news report.
In 2013, the UK's Office of Fair Trading launched an investigation into exactly this topic, producing a report outlining some of the "misleading commercial practices" that were aimed at "exploiting children's inexperience, vulnerability and credulity" by promoting in-app purchases.
Following screening, two reviewers extracted the following information from the remaining reports: (1) headline; (2) publication date; (3) whether the report was a repetition of another included story; (4) topic of the media report; and (5) if the report referred to a specific event, the location of the event.
The question of how to do so -- planet-wide -- is the topic of a recently published international report, "Understanding Space Weather to Shield Society".
Matched cases in this final stage-meaning that the topic of the report was related to an adverse event in the record review study-were classified as adverse event matches (see Figure 1).
