These apes are known from teeth, lower jaw bones, and possibly a piece of distal humerus.
Dental characters distinctive from Castor: cheek teeth subhypsodont (roots form on all cheek teeth), lower than in Castor; buccal striae on upper cheek teeth and lingual striids on lower cheek teeth do not extend the entire height of the crown, thus occlusal flexi (-ids) become fossettes (-ids) in late stages of wear.
Since card holders are eligible for public dental care this is also consistent with observed slightly lower numbers of teeth, lower percentage visiting in the last 12 months, and fewer numbers of visits in the last 12 months.
The respondents showed a similar profile to comparable population survey data in terms of number of teeth, lower dentures, making a dental visit in the last 12 months, place of birth and education level (Table 1).
