The attributes we focus on are IMO number, vessel type label, draught, gross tonnage, length, and summer deadweight (Fig. 2).
Moreover, as novel problems, we attempt tasks of predicting and classifying vessel attributes: draught, gross tonnage, length, and summer deadweight.
Vessel images include important clues regarding different attributes such as vessel type, category, gross tonnage, length and draught.
Here, as interesting applications, by studying only the visual content, we targeted predicting and classifying four important attributes: draught, gross tonnage, length, and summer deadweight.

The computer compiles all kinds of data from the tidal currents at various depths, to the prevailing winds, to the tonnage and length and width and height and draft of the ship, to the time of year of the voyage.
For demonstration purposes, one non-metric and five metric variables were selected, namely fatality, ship's properties (i.e. age, gross register tonnage, and length), number of people on board, and marine accidents.
