"tone of coverage" is a correct and usable phrase in written English.
It is often used in news and media contexts to describe the overall attitude or perspective conveyed in a piece of coverage on a particular topic. Example: "The tone of coverage surrounding the election was increasingly negative as tensions rose between the two candidates."
