Nuclear reaction analysis with 3He holds the promise to derive Deuterium depth profiles up to large depths from a set of measurements with different energies.
As corresponding to experimental results, higher σc value concurs to larger depth of focus.
Hydraulically more conductive Folded Molasse Sediments would lead more cold water to larger depths causing an overall cooling of the system.
Moreover, higher temperatures at shallow depths below the Alps (compared to larger depths below the Molasse Basin) would explain the earthquake distribution described by Deichmann et al. (1999), Willingshofer and Cloetingh (2003) and Singer et al. (2014) with deep earthquakes in the foreland and shallow earthquakes in the Alpine area.
Even though the Folded Molasse Sediments are characterized by the lowest hydraulic conductivity of all sediments, their large thickness of up to 7000 m (Fig. 2a) in combination with the high hydraulic gradient caused by the topography in front of the Alps results in an overall flow pathway for cold fluid to larger depths.
Several times, the OCT probe had slipped axially inside the sheath and this could immediately be seen by the surface in the image corresponding to the cap, moving to larger depths in the OCT cross-section image.
In this section, we add a large velocity cap layer at large depth to examine the feasibility of approximation of the Green's function of full-wave with the Green's function of surface waves.
