Any soft tissue density at this site in the presence of a fluid-filled paranasal sinus is suspicious for subperiosteal abscess formation [27, 28].
CT findings that suggest malignant intestinal obstruction are the presence of irregular parietal thickening or a mass with soft-tissue density at the point of transition [ 42- 44].
After pneumonectomy, however, lung volume increases and tissue density, at least initially, decreases.
Histomorphometric evaluation showed 37%and27%7% reduction in bone tissue density at 5 and 30 days, respectively, and a 30% decrease in bone formation at 30 days, compared to controls.
Similarly, histopathological analysis showed cellular recruitment to foci of infection in immunocompetent, but not FK506-treated animals (Fig 2E), and consequently reduced tissue density at a whole lung level (Fig 2F).
A subtle soft tissue density was seen at the junction of the right and left hepatic ducts at the porta hepatis with mild dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts above the obstruction (Fig. 1).
For about 3 months after the initial tumor resection, local recurrence presented with an irregular soft tissue density mass located at the field of operation.
They manifest as soft tissue density masses at CT, although they often have areas of cysts, hemorrhage, necrosis and/or coarse clumps of calcification (Fig. 8).
The data on respiratory mechanics, the estimated elastance and resistance of the respiratory system and the estimated PEEP are presented in Table 1. Figure 2 presents the dynamics of the distribution of lung aeration during PEEP titration for all animals, and depicts the average histograms of tissue densities, during the entire PEEP titration, at end-expiratory and end-inspiratory pauses.
The model is in agreement with mouse studies, which show that tissue-resident CD8+ T-cell density at the site of viral challenge dictates lesion severity (Gebhardt et al., 2009; Shin and Iwasaki, 2012), and further suggests that local CD8+ T-cell count supersedes all other parameters of viral replication and immunologic response in determining the extent of shedding during an episode.
