All specimens were frozen immediately in liquid nitrogen, embedded in tissue compound, and kept at −80° C until use.
Then the tissues were embedded in OCT tissue compound (Miles, Elkhart, IN, USA) and stored at - 80°C according to the method described previously [ 15].
