Our hope, of course, is that the MCID threshold for improvement is reached, providing reassurance that patients are routinely experiencing clinically important improvements as a result of surgery.
The minimum clinically important difference (MCID) is a threshold of improvement that is clinically relevant to the patient.
Future targeted randomized studies could further evaluate SSTS by addressing parameters such as "minimally important difference" and "threshold of improvement", as suggested recently by several working groups on patient reported outcomes on pain.

At a 15% threshold, the improvement provided by the use of RASs was more modest (Fig. 4).
