The association between elopiforms and albuliforms was based on only negative evidence that is, the two groups were elopomorph fishes that lacked the eel-like characters of the two other orders (Anguilliformes and Saccopharyngiformes) in the superorder Elopomorpha.
There were high numbers of related species (four Pleuronectids and three Sebastes), but three of the four other orders contained only one species.
Two other orders (Sulfolobales and Thermoproteales ) still possess large variability in their proteome sizes.
Two other orders will also be considered, although they involve considerably more computation.
An intriguing point raised by the phylogenetic tree produced by Laumer et al. is that this order may be evolutionarily equidistant to two other orders (Prolecithophora and Fecampiida).
The fraction of samples from passerines that tested positive for AIV was greater than the prevalence in eight other orders of birds in the contiguous US.
Analysis of 225 avian species indicates that influenza prevalence is higher in passerines than in eight other orders of birds in the contiguous US.
The number of passerine species that tested positive for AIV (n = 22) was greater than the number of positive species detected in ten other orders, including waterfowl.
Similarly, only four other orders of insects (Coleoptera, Diptera, Orthoptera and Lepidoptera) have genome sizes estimated for more species [ 4] (Fig. 1).
For the five other orders that had multiple complete or nearly complete mitogenomes sequenced, one representative from each family was selected in the present study to save computational time and to better represent taxonomic diversities.
