While there's no indication that politics explicitly played a role in the lack of a press release in the Wilson case, it certainly doesn't fit the mold of the type of prosecution that Sessions and his Justice Department would seek to promote.
We can learn some lessons about how to better hold corporations accountable for crimes, though, from the way these types of prosecution agreements are now being used across the globe.
"They need not fear any type of prosecution," he said.

"There has been overzealous prosecution of this type of thing in this country," he said.
But perhaps the knowledge that Spain's Parliament has passed new legislation that broadens the prosecution of this type of crime and gives judges faster and more flexible means for sentencing such criminals will give Ms. Wells and others more assurance that positive steps are being taken to eliminate the possibility of future situations such as hers.
By them taking this type of stand, they continue the malicious prosecution and act in concert with corrupt officials.
That is, however, little comfort since we can anticipate that actual prosecutions for this type of offence are likely to be rare.
This type of case is usually handled by the S.E.C. and is rarely the basis for a criminal prosecution of a corporation.
