While permanent-magnet motors are the most popular type used in electric and hybrid drive systems — an estimated 90 percent of today's electric vehicles use this design, said Kevin Riddell, an analyst with LMC Automotive — they are not the only workable design.
"This design," said Matt Blesso, the chief executive of Blesso properties, the site's developer, "manages to be over-the-top bold, very modern and yet feels summery and beachy".
The General Board detested this design, saying it was "not... a true battleship" due to its speed and armor problems.
The execution of the design, says Mitchell, has been "exceptional".
"We did kind of fight this thing behind the design," said Patric O'Malley, vice president of Gensler, the architectural firm that was allied in the project with Aldo Rossi Studio di Architettura.
"The thing that's most interesting in all this is urban design," says Parry, deflecting the discussion away from the fact that he is penning the City's tallest totem.
This is by design, says founder Helen Spaull.
"This was not by design," says Tripathi.
"It's really about this approach human-centered design," says O'Rourke.
