"There's an explosion in patent filing in this area," says Dr Swain.
"Because of that conference, Cornell is already seen as a center of strength in this area," says Glickman.
"We tend to vote for the individual in this area," says James, the church treasurer and a former bank manager.
In this area, says Mr Montagon, there is no silver bullet: "We've got to feel our way a bit".
"Speed to market is very important in this area," says Tony Smith, Solexa's vice president and chief scientific officer.
"Five years ago when we opened up, there wasn't anything around this area," says Tima Reshad, owner of nail salon Coco Nails on Portobello Road.
"Statutory, regulatory, bureaucratic, and cultural barriers have paralysed science and threatened the integrity of research freedom in this area," says the report by the Brookings Institution.

"There is a corporate inertia in this area," says Maggie De Pree, who continued: "The reward structure only runs with the flow of business so innovation is not rewarded because it goes against the grain.
"Since starting [the programme], all women have delivered HIV-negative babies, which has contributed to reducing child mortality in this area," says Fanny Luwemba, a buddy volunteer in Sandi village.
"The elders felt something needed to be done to secure the future of the children who were not going to school and were spending their days collecting scrap metal for sale to the industries near this area," says Nyaghoa.
