Freedom of expression – and I am thinking here primarily of freedom of expression on university campuses – is a very precious but often misunderstood commodity.
Regardless, what is most relevant to this essay is that Frankfurt's argument inspired many compatibilists to begin thinking about accounts of freedom or control that unabashedly turn away from a Garden of Forking Paths model.

It got me thinking of this notion of freedom -- and where it lands for me.
Between their confusion over such obvious freedoms as drinking responsibly wherever you'd like, and stories of East Germany as compared to American cops, it really got me thinking about this bill of freedom we've been crammed down our throats our whole American lives.
