The following databases were searched (up to October 2015); MEDLINE via OVID, PubMed, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, LILACS, BBO, ClinicalTrials.gov, the National Research Register, and ProQuest Dissertation and Thesis database.
Grey literature was also searched, including clinicaltrials.gov to identify potential new studies, ICTRP registry database, and ProQuest thesis database.
The selected Thai databases were the Health System Research Institute database, Journal of Health Science, Thai thesis database, The Thailand Research Fund, Thai Journal Citation Index Center, and the Research Library of the National Research Council of Thailand.
Unpublished trials were searched electronically using ClinicalTrials.gov (www.clinicaltrials.gov), the National Research Register (www.controlled-trials.com), and ProQuest Dissertation and Thesis database (http://pqdtopen.proquest.com).
