For each emerging sub-theme, a summary explaining the behaviour, attitude, experience, context and ritual around observed defecation practices and patterns was prepared, providing the basis for the results presented in this paper.
Thus the global themes are a summary of the main themes, as well as our interpretation of the data from this analysis.
The following section will discuss these three main themes and then a summary will be presented.
Robertson et al. (2015), in the final paper, provide a summary of the major themes explored at the Conference both with respect to the papers produced for this special issue and the discussions held at the Conference itself.
The documents are accompanied by a teacher's guide offering links to social science topics, suggestions for using the documents, a biographical sketch, informational detail on each theme, a contextual summary of each document, inquiry questions, activity suggestions, a glossary, timeline, film and video resource list, and an annotated selected bibliography.
Figure 2 provides a summary of themes, sub-themes and data sets.
A stepwise approach was used to compare and consolidate the initial themes into one list and finally a summary into overarching themes.
Member checking confirm the credibility of the data: each participant will be given a full transcript of the interview with a summary of themes to determine whether the themes were appropriately identified and matched their responses.

5 & 6) A summary of all themes was written and the themes were defined and refined, including merging or renaming themes to ensure accurate representation of the data, alongside the broader existing literature (see Fig. 1).
