One trademark of Mr. Fellner's Beethoven is his light, crisp and measured touch, impressive in the concluding variations, which close on a somber note when the stately theme re-emerges.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra played crisp arrangements of some pertinent themes: "Re: Person I Knew," written for Mr. Keepnews by the pianist Bill Evans (the title is an anagram of his name), and "The Shadow of Your Smile," among the best-loved songs by Mr. Mandel.
Concepts were clustered to develop an analytical framework as analysis proceeded with new themes re-assessed and revised as necessary.
Nevertheless, as interviews progressed and themes re-emerged, we were satisfied with the degree of data saturation obtained at the conclusion of the interviews.
The process of constant comparison allowed for the coding frame to be modified as analysis developed, and allowed us to generate new themes, re-classify existing themes and incorporate them within others.
Saturation of the findings was reached approximately half way through each of our three phases of data collection (each data collection phase represented a different stage of the programme), with the same themes re-emerging across different groups.
Analysis of the data collected through interviews involved reading the full interview transcript; performing a line-by-line analysis and comparison with and between transcripts; identification of similar and dissimilar themes; clustering of themes; re-reading the full transcripts and checking the credibility of themes by two members of the research team [ 19].
During the process of data integration some themes were re-named or re-fined.
In an age when replicas in theme parks, re-enactments on fake battlefields and digital copies of music and art predominate, originals still have the power to impress.
In response to the mood of uncertainty, some architects and planners sought reassurance in theme park re-creations of more robust times.
"It is to challenge the way the coalition is dismantling everything in the name of the 'big society'," says Cruddas. "We want to recapture the 'big society' theme by re-establishing Labour's traditions around mutualism, community and solidarity".
