The structures resulting from this analysis would identify the profiles, contexts, topic areas and elements present, along with the inferences possible, for each of the individuals' personae; the mapping in Fig. 2 would be useful here, especially in the top-down analysis.
The central theme of the book traces the development of two approaches to causation in the period: the "top-down analysis" and the "bottom-up analysis".
