Click on the Startup Disk tab and then on Create Disk.
(Go to the Start menu, to Settings, then to Control Panel and double-click on Add/Remove programs to see the StartUp Disk tab and instructions).
Use the Startup Disk option in System Preferences to restart in Mac OS 9, then move the files and folders labeled Library, Users, mach, mac--kernel and mach.sym to Trash.
Click on "Continue," then select the startup disk you want reset from the left sidebar.

If you want your computer to boot up to OS X by default, you can set the default startup disk in the Windows Control Panel.
Alternately, you can select System Preferences from the Apple menu, click on "Startup Disk," select the name of your external hard drive, and click on "Restart".[4].
