Antimicrobial-drug use has been studied extensively with regard to development of CDAD and, to a lesser extent, severity and recurrence of disease (3, 12, 14, 21 – 21 ).
Faecalibacterium prausnitzii has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and an inverse correlation with severity and recurrence of colitis in humans and murine models [ 37].
