We found a strong correlation between the left and right connectivity matrices (Spearman r = 0.67, p<0.0001; Figure 4 figure supplement 4).
Another possible explanation is that the differential left > right connectivity from a bilateral anterior temporal lobe semantic system to left prefrontal speech production systems might explain why the left anterior temporal pole damage correlates with semantic naming errors (Lambon Ralph et al., 2001; Walker et al, 2010).
An example of this can be the right amygdala hippocampal connectivity, increased in mania and decreased in depression (Li et al. 2015).
In patients with FM, the right insula DMN connectivity at the beta band also showed a negative correlation with the number of tender points (r = −0.532, p = 0.004) and the TTS (r = −0.428, p = 0.023; Fig. 3).
The right amygdala→OFC connectivity also correlated positively with levels of craving (r = 0.418, P = 0.005, uncorrected) (Fig. 5B).
Furthermore, relative to the placebo treatment in patients, heroin injection also reduced the right amygdala OFC connectivity, giving a level comparable to that observed in healthy controls.
Additional PPI analyses showed that the right amygdala vACC connectivity was modulated by individual differences in reward drive, a personality trait linked to aggression (27 30).
Within the right DLPFC connectivity maps (2-back > 0-back), CBT responsiveness associated negatively with activity in the thalamus extending to parahippocampal and posterior cingulate gyri (peak: −12,−24,6; T = 4.96; subpeaks: 14,−46,4; T = 4.83 and −4,−64,12; T = 4.65; 7841 contiguous voxels, cluster-corrected p <.001).
On the right hemisphere, stronger connectivity was additionally found in the anterior insula (Fig. 4a).
RD in the left uncinate fasciculus also correlated with the right DLPFC amygdala functional connectivity (r = −0.35, p = 0.01).
