Sustainable processes for the conversion of whole plants into fuels are investigated in the research cluster "Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass" at RWTH Aachen University RWTH Aachen Universityy, 2007).
Thus, a bibliometric analysis is conducted to analyze the citations within the paper sample, i.e., within each cluster and between the two clusters, and to assess the extent to which the two research clusters stimulate each other.
Only two conceptual/empirical studies (Seuring and Müller 2008b; Zhu et al. 2005) and one modeling paper (Bai and Sarkis 2010) do refer to and are also cited by papers from the other cluster and, thus, represent the core link between the two research clusters.
While the approach to risk management differs, the causes and implications are similarly comprehended by the two research clusters.
Seventy percent of the 17 research clusters thus far awarded funding as part of the Excellence Initiative are being driven by Max Planck Institutes, says Bernd Wirsing, spokesperson at Max Planck.
