High temperatures had a strong negative effect on corn yield response in the United States, in agreement with the data, but the predominate effect of heat in the model was via increased water stress.
In vivo results indicate that the predominate effect of mosquito feeding is to significantly reduce the recruitment of T cells, leading the inoculation site of mice exposed to WNV alone to have up to 2.8 fold more t cells as mice infected in the presence of mosquito saliva.

Importantly, the H19 −m/+p growth phenotype was rescued by Igf2 +m/−p, suggesting that the predominate growth effects were mediated by Igf2, rather than as a consequence of the disruption of either the maternal allele locus, H19 non-coding RNA or the associated miR-675 (Gabory et al, 2009; Veronese et al, 2010; Yoshimizu et al, 2008).
Our results thus suggest that PKG phosphorylation of the cardiac KATP channel or some closed associated regulatory protein in the plasma membrane renders channel inhibition, an effect likely masked by the predominating, stimulatory effect of PKG in intact cells (Fig. 1).
Another example may be the observation that early age at marriage has a predominating effect in the production of cancer of the cervix uteri (Lombard and Potter, 1950).
However, when either of these two evolutionary forces (local fluctuation in fitness or dispersal cost) predominates, the effect of kin selection seems to be overshadowed.
