Although all classes reported sex with non-primary partners, the number of acts this was much lower among classes 1 and 2 and most of the unprotected sex reported in these classes appeared to occur with primary partners.
To assess BC-specific death whilst accounting for competing risks, we incorporated BC death as the primary outcome and deaths from CV disease and other causes as non-primary outcomes into the latent class proportional hazards model.
The validation of the classes was approached comparing unprotected sex with all and with non-primary partners only reported by members of each class as well as STI prevalence in each class.
Hence, we tested responses in this non-primary, associative area to clear and distinct classes of songs with different functions and social values, and for a possible correspondence between these responses and the functional aspects of songs, in a highly social songbird species: the European starling.
The first two classes mainly have sex with primary sex partners, while classes 3 and 4 have many more non-primary sex partners (See Table 5).

As we said before, this non-primary, associative auditory area has been shown to differentially respond to the functional classes of starlings' songs [38].
