Dissection of HTE in clinical trials has been characterized as "an experiment and a survey rolled into one" (Kravitz et al. 2004, p. 667, paraphrasing Longford and Nelder 1999): randomization may be present at the level of treatment assignment, but genetics, the open-textured effects of environment, and interactions between the two represent unavoidable confounds.
The remaining MGS were annotated using blastP analysis and assigned to a given taxonomical level from genus to super kingdom level if more than 80%% of their genes had the same level of assignment.
