The main aim of this study was to explore the relationship between intelligence and cortical activation patterns in the framework of the learning test concept.
In this experiment, only the learning test was performed after conditioning, as we aimed at detecting potential differences in learning of a difficult visual task.
The learning test was conducted in a T-maze, following 15 h of feed deprivation (of which 12 h were in darkness).
The performances on the last day of the learning test session (day 4) were no longer different between any treatments and genotypes (both Fs<1).
This conclusion was confirmed by the results of the learning test, in which bees of both groups were again confronted with the CS+ and the CS− in the absence of reinforcement.
We hypothesized that in order to solve this question particular attention has to be paid to the specific design, the analysis, and the interpretation of the learning test to be used.
