The dietary intake of cases may have changed as a result of cancer diagnosis and treatment, and current diet may influence the recall of usual diet (Willett, 1998).
We did not prescribe or record the intake of fluids in cases, so did not attempt to analyse the association of fluid intake volume and urine output volume for either cases or controls.
Table 3 presents the average nutrient intake of cases and controls.
The average caloric intake of cases (9,210 kJ/day) was not much lower than that for controls (9,552 kJ/day).
Acute treatment is not recommended, since no drug proved to be clearly effective and also because the intensity and the duration of the attacks do not require the intake of a medication in most cases.
