One week after MIA treatment, the inflammation is resolved in the joints and pain sensation is more likely caused by biomechanical forces affecting the articular cartilage and subchondral bone.
While inflammation-derived mechanisms support key healing processes such as debris-removal and angiogenesis, it is necessary that the inflammation be resolved in a timely manner to allow the remainder of the healing cascade to follow [23].
