"We're offering people the ability to represent themselves with the impediments removed," he said.
Boyle ultimately got what he needed, yet that was hardly the only impediment he faced in making the movie for half a year in and around Mumbai, India, one of the world's most populous cities.
His company, profitable for the last two years, offers therapy to children with speech and physical impediments, he said.
And now that the impediments are gone, and he's able to grow without hindrance, he's bringing a little of his new world home to us.
"We don't have the impediment of housing," he said, "and agriculture is important to the right people -- the freeholders, the planning boards".
The timeliness of his patents hasn't been an impediment, he admits.
