"the forthcoming chapters" is a correct and usable phrase in written English.
"Forthcoming" means upcoming or expected in the near future, so it is often used to refer to chapters or sections of a book or document that will be released or included in the future. Example: "In the introduction, the author gives an overview of the main themes that will be explored in the forthcoming chapters."
However, there is an important link between mitotic and meiotic recombination (covered in the forthcoming chapter by Hunter et al. 2015) and many of the functions are evolutionarily conserved.
