After only 6 months of incubation a significant PAH depletion has been recorded and in vegetated sediments the PAH depletion resulted in being gradual during the 12 months of experimentation with a final depletion of indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene (PI) and benzo[g,h,i]perylene (BP) accounting for 29.94% and 29.79%, respectively (Table 1).
It is also highly unlikely that this drop was caused by transportation of the calves, as the drop was already seen in the first hours after ingestion of colostrum, which was before transportation in calves 1 - 4. The undulating course in leukocyte counts may reflect initial peripheral destruction and transendothelial migration, subsequent recruitment, and final depletion due to bone marrow damage.
This suggests that individual factors are important in determining the final extent of depletion.
Factors influencing antigen and effector modulation are thought to be important in determining the final extent of depletion achieved (Table 1) [ 18, 27, 28].
After rRNA depletion the final RNA sample was quantified using RiboGreen® on a spectrophotometer before commencing the 454 RNA preparation protocols.
