In 1992, the organization started the Fellowship Program for Minority Students Entering the Teaching Profession.
Mrs. Miller helped organize the fellowship program at her father's behest in 1940.
One of them, Orlando Richards, works as a documentary cameraman; he graduated from the fellowship program in 2000.
Thomas Carter, the Monk Institute's president, said that it was hard to find a home for the fellowship program.
