We developed a new integrative indicator HT* that takes account of varietal richness, spatial evenness, between-variety genetic diversity, and within-variety genetic diversity.
The rototilling and stubble-breaking performances, the seeding stability, uniformity and evenness between rows of the planter and the performance of the fertilizing unit of the machine were measured.
Similar patterns were observed after four years of herbivore exclusion (Figure 1d); the difference in plant community evenness between the areas used by livestock and native herbivores had decreased (Table 2).
For example, we found large differences in functional evenness between the total catch and reported catch for the Desventuradas Islands of Chile.
From the regression equation and the corresponding landscape indices, it was found that watershed erosion can be reduced by decreasing the physical connectivity between patches, improving the evenness of the landscape patch types, enriching landscape types, and enhancing the degree of aggregation between the landscape patches.
Richness (numbers of distinct T-RFs and OTUs) and diversity indices, including Shannon Weaver index (H′) [ 60] which measures the entropy, Pielou index (J) [ 61] which measures the evenness, i.e. the equitability between the different species present in a community, were calculated based on the microbial community analyses results.
The relative abundance of the two bacterial species was quantified using the complement of the Simpson Diversity Index (see methods) which takes into account both species richness, which was equal for all populations (i.e., 2), and the evenness of species abundance, which varied between populations.
"The great variety of colors, the spacing between the tesserae, and the evenness of the mosaic surface as a whole suggest that they were made by master craftsmen," she said.
In general, the difference in functional dispersion estimates between the total catch and different groupings was lower than for functional evenness, and many EEZs that showed large differences in functional evenness between the total catch and specific groupings did not show large differences in functional dispersion (EEZs with paler shading in Fig. 7 than in Fig. 6).
There were also no differences in richness, diversity and evenness between the different timepoints (all P > 0.05).
