Differing stands determine competing interpretations of the past 40 years of American politics, conflicting analyses of the 2012 election, and alternative projections of the near-term future of American politics.
Yet European leaders have taken widely differing stands.
Partial correlations were used to control for the effect of differing stand densities at maturity, which varied substantially between the two common garden locations due to a severe frost and subsequent high mortality at one site.

The test, if the intercepts differ is only applicable if the slopes do not differ between stands, thus only for the crown projection area and for the crown surface area.
For all sapwood areas the hypothesis that the slopes do not differ between the stands had to be rejected.
The stands differed in the amount and composition of residual tree retention, salvage- and aquatic-edges, degree of burn severity (all measured at 100 and 500 m buffers), as well as landscape-level variables such as distance to previously burned forests.
Neither coarse (>1 mm diameter) or fine (<1 mm diameter) root biomass in the top 10 cm soil differed among stands of the three tree species (Table 2).
We found that the spatial genetic structure differed between the two stands and their differences depended on their environmental features.
Total soil C, N, and ammonium (the dominant form of mineral N) concentrations did not differ among stands of the three tree species (Fig. 2, Table 3).
The stands differed in population size, ranging from 284 to ~3200 individuals, in population density (0.70 5.75 individuals/m) (Table 1) and degree of isolation (the distance between S. lingua populations ranged from 300 m to 2.5 km).
