Half of the cost would be due to a drop in tourist visits, 38 per cent because of the impact on cross-border workers and 12 per cent to the additional cost on freight transport.
"The alleged missile throwing is reported to have come from the area of the motorcycle lane, which at the time was full of cross-border workers unable to return home," he said.
The Swiss federal statistical office released figures recently showing that while the average disposable income of a Swiss is roughly $55,000, that of cross-border workers like the Italians is about $48,000.
