The phrase "the check was cleared" is a correct and usable phrase in written English
You can use it to describe a situation in which a check that was submitted for payment has gone through the bank process necessary for the funds to be released from the check writer's account. For example: "The store owner was relieved when the cheque was cleared and he had the funds in his account."
