We simulated paired-end sequence read data from the O. ochengi genome assembly by randomly shearing the genome and then aligned the produced paired-end reads to the bovine reference assembly and concluded that the O. ochengi assembly is contaminated with cattle sequences (Additional file 2: Note 1).
