JERUSALEM — An academic study of the contents of Israeli and Palestinian Authority textbooks, to be published Monday, finds that each side generally presents the other as the enemy, but it undermines recent assertions by the Israeli government that Palestinian children are educated "to hate".
Still, some members say the board has the authority to reject new textbooks to be published next year that did not meet the standard; the resolution says the board would "look to reject future prejudicial social studies submissions that continue to offend Texas law with respect to treatment of the world's major religious groups".
He was also the author, with Mark C. Carnes, of "The American Nation" (Longman), a widely used college textbook scheduled to be published in its 13th edition next month.
Mr. Baxter is one of about 50 unpaid freelance writers, editors, page designers and others who worked this year for Inkwell on textbooks that are to be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, which is owned by a holding company based in the Cayman Islands, and floats in oceans of debt.
